Delivered by Dr. Paul Malavenda, DC, LAc — a licensed acupuncturist and chiropractic physician, in one office.
Acupuncture at 305 My Chiro is performed by Dr. Paul Malavenda, who holds a Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc) credential alongside his chiropractic doctorate. Treatments use sterile, single-use, hair-thin needles and most commonly address musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and stress. A session runs about 30 minutes.

Most Miami patients who want both chiropractic and acupuncture end up at two practices that never speak to each other. Here, the same clinician who examined your spine decides where acupuncture fits into your plan. If your low back pain is driven by a joint restriction, that gets adjusted; if there is a persistent muscular or pain-modulation component on top of it, acupuncture can be aimed at that in the same course of care.
Dr. Malavenda reviews your history and what you are feeling now, then places a number of very fine sterile needles at selected points. They are far thinner than a needle used for injections. Most people feel a brief pinch or a dull heaviness, then nothing. You rest for roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Some patients feel relaxed afterward and some feel tired — both are normal.
All needles are sterile, single-use, and disposed of after your session.
Acupuncture has its strongest research support in exactly the areas most of our patients come in for — musculoskeletal pain and headache. That is also where Dr. Malavenda uses it most, and where he sees the best results.
It works as part of a plan built around your examination rather than as a standalone treatment, which is the advantage of having your chiropractor and your acupuncturist be the same clinician. Most people do best with a short course of sessions rather than a single visit, and Dr. Malavenda will tell you after your first visit roughly how many he expects you to need.
Most people are surprised by how little they feel. The needles are roughly the thickness of a human hair.
