Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Florida?

No. In Florida you can see a chiropractic physician directly, without a referral from a medical doctor. You can book online any time.

How much does a chiropractic adjustment cost?

New patients can start for $45, which includes the exam, 2 x-rays, and 1 chiropractic adjustment, used within 1 month of purchase. A $150 new-patient package adds a consultation, up to 6 x-rays, a report of findings, and 2 adjustments over 3 months. A 10-visit new-patient package is $350. A returning-patient adjustment is $90, and a new-patient or auto-accident evaluation on its own is $450. Full pricing is on the insurance and fees page.

Which insurance do you take?

Most major health plans, including Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, AvMed, and Medicare, plus Florida auto-accident (PIP) insurance. We bill your insurer directly. Coverage is subject to verification, so call (305) 443-1103 with your card and we will check your benefits before your visit.

How soon should I see a chiropractor after a car accident in Florida?

Within 14 days. Florida's PIP law generally requires you to receive your first treatment within 14 days of the accident to keep your PIP medical benefits, even if your pain shows up later. If you were in a crash, get evaluated this week. See how the 14-day rule works.

What conditions does Dr. Malavenda treat?

Back and neck pain, sciatica, headaches, herniated discs, scoliosis, sports injuries, auto-accident injuries such as whiplash, and pregnancy-related pain. He also offers acupuncture, disc decompression, massage therapy, nutrition counseling, and custom Foot Levelers orthotics.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Dr. Malavenda and the team are fluent in English and Spanish. Sí, hablamos español. Visit 305 My Chiro en español.

How long has Dr. Malavenda been practicing?

Since 1987. He graduated from Life University in 1987 and has practiced in Miami ever since — 39 years in the same city. More on his background and credentials.

Can I get a same-day or same-week appointment?

Yes. Same-week appointments are usually available and same-day openings often are too. Book online any time or call (305) 443-1103. If you were in a car accident, tell us and we will prioritize getting you evaluated inside Florida's 14-day PIP window.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Most patients feel relief rather than pain. An adjustment is a quick, controlled movement; you may hear a popping sound, which is gas releasing from the joint and is not a sign of damage. Some people feel mild soreness for a day afterward, similar to after exercise. Tell Dr. Malavenda about any discomfort and he will adjust his approach.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what is wrong, how long it has been going on, and how your body responds. Dr. Malavenda examines you first, explains what he found in a report of findings, and recommends a plan. You are never locked into a contract.

What should I bring to my first visit?

A photo ID, your insurance card, and if you were in a car accident, your auto insurance information and the crash report number if you have it. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in.

Do you take x-rays?

Only when Dr. Malavenda determines imaging is medically necessary to understand your condition and treat you safely.

Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Chiropractic care is widely used during pregnancy for back and pelvic discomfort, and Dr. Malavenda uses techniques suited to pregnancy, including the Webster technique. As with any care in pregnancy, tell us you are pregnant and discuss it with your obstetric provider. See prenatal chiropractic care.
