Downtown works at a desk, on its feet, and in the street

There are about 155,000 jobs downtown across roughly twenty million square feet of office space, and the county's Stephen P. Clark Government Center sits within five blocks of local, state, and federal courthouses. Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus serves more than 27,000 students a year. Miami Worldcenter, a twenty-seven acre development across ten city blocks, has kept hundreds of construction workers on site daily. That mix produces very different injuries in the same square mile.

What we treat most here

• Neck, shoulder, and low-back pain from desk work. Laptops, dual monitors, and long meetings hold the head forward for hours.
• Standing fatigue in court and county work, plus the lifting and bending that hotel housekeeping and retail demand across 8,100-plus downtown hotel rooms.
• Driving injuries. Bus, rideshare, and delivery drivers spend the whole shift seated in heavy traffic.
• Construction strain from the thirty-plus active projects downtown.
• Overuse and sports injuries. The downtown authority reports seven in ten residents exercise weekly and a quarter train seven or more hours a week.

Crossing the street downtown

Pedestrian crashes are the single most common serious crash type downtown, at about a quarter of them, and forty-four percent of serious crashes here happen at intersections, the highest share of any neighborhood near us. Countywide, pedestrian crashes rose from 1,221 in 2020 to 1,873 in 2024. If you were struck or rear-ended, come in. Your Florida PIP coverage generally pays for the care, and the 14-day window starts the day of the crash.

Downtown is not one neighborhood

Around Government Center, about two thirds of adults speak Spanish and report limited English, and nearly half of households have no car. A few blocks east, incomes are triple and most households drive. We serve both, in English and Spanish, on transit or with free parking, and we bill most major insurance directly.
