This is the second largest concentration of medical and research facilities in the country. Jackson Memorial alone holds 1,488 licensed beds and was the largest hospital in the United States by bed count as of 2021. Ryder Trauma Center is the only Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center serving Miami-Dade. Tens of thousands of people work across Jackson, UHealth, the VA, and Miami Dade College's medical campus, and a lot of them are on their feet for twelve hours at a stretch.

Healthcare is harder on the body than most people outside it realize. Federal labor statistics put musculoskeletal disorders among registered nurses at 46.0 cases per 10,000 full-time workers, against 29.4 for all occupations. Nursing assistants recorded 15,360 musculoskeletal cases in a single year, more than half of all their days-away-from-work injuries, including 10,330 back injuries. That is among the highest of any job in the country.

Hours that fit a shift schedule

We are open Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, which works for people coming off a night shift or heading into an evening one. Same-week appointments are usually available and same-day openings often are too. Book online in about a minute.

Getting here without a car

Roughly a third of households in this tract do not own a vehicle, so we plan for that. The UHealth-Jackson Metrorail station is a third of a mile away, the free Health District trolley runs the medical campus every ten to fifteen minutes on weekdays and stops on our own street, and patients coming from Broward or Palm Beach can take Brightline or Tri-Rail to MiamiCentral and connect by Metrorail.

Rear-end collisions make up about a quarter of the serious crashes in this area, and rear-end impacts are the classic cause of whiplash. Our own block, NW 10th Ave between NW 14th and NW 15th St, sits at number 34 on Miami-Dade's Vision Zero list of the county's hundred highest-priority locations.
