Getting here from Edgewater
Between 1.6 and 2.4 miles depending on where you start. From Margaret Pace Park, take NE 2nd Ave or N Miami Ave south to NW 14th St, then west to NW 10th Ave. Usually under ten minutes, and parking is free on site.
Note that the Metromover does not reach most of Edgewater. Its northern end is the School Board station, walkable from southern Edgewater only. The free Biscayne trolley runs the boulevard and operates Sundays.
The home-office neighborhood
Edgewater has changed faster than almost anywhere in Miami. Between a fifth and a third of residents work from home, and household incomes here run well above the city median. That produces a very specific and very treatable set of complaints: neck and upper-back pain from laptops at kitchen counters, low-back pain from dining chairs used as desk chairs, and headaches that trace back to a monitor set six inches too low.
If you have been working from a condo for years without a proper setup, the pain you feel is mechanical, and mechanical problems respond well to hands-on care plus a few changes to how you sit. Dr. Malavenda will look at how you actually work, not just where it hurts.
Who else we see from Edgewater
- Tower construction crews. Aria Reserve's 62-story north tower is finishing on NE 24th St, with more towers proposed. That is heavy, repetitive, high-exposure work.
- Runners, cyclists, and gym-goers from Margaret Pace Park's outdoor gyms and running paths, plus its eight bayfront acres of courts.
- Service and hospitality staff along the Biscayne Boulevard corridor.
- Delivery and logistics workers who spend the day loading, lifting, and driving.
Intersections are the risk here
More than half of the serious crashes in Edgewater happen at intersections, the highest share of any neighborhood near our office, and Edgewater has the highest proportion of motorcyclist injuries of the six. Biscayne Boulevard carries about 44,500 vehicles a day near NE 36th St. If a crash left you with neck pain, headaches, or stiffness that showed up a day later, that is worth an exam. Florida PIP generally covers it, and the 14-day rule applies.
Bilingual care, South American roots
Edgewater's Hispanic community skews Venezuelan and Colombian, distinct from the Caribbean and Central American communities closer to our office. Dr. Malavenda practices in Spanish and English, so you can describe your symptoms precisely. Lea esta pagina en espanol.
